Bone Grafting Healing
Clinical situations that may adversely affect healing of the graft include smoking, uncontrolled diabetes, long-term steroid use, history of multiple surgical procedures, prior infection, bleeding disorders, immunosuppression after radiation therapy, and vascular impairment. Although these clinical situations may not exclude the use of bone grafts, they may require a greater degree of preoperative planning.
